100x Group Joins Global Digital Finance Patron Board

We are pleased to announce that 100x Group, the holding structure for the BitMEX platform, has joined Global Digital Finance (GDF), the leading industry body championing the adoption of digital finance.

As a GDF patron board member, we’ll work closely with our peers to advocate for a more inclusive, empowering, and better regulated digital financial system. We’re passionate about promoting the evolution of digital finance because, quite simply, we believe it is the future of finance itself.

100x Group CEO Alexander Höptner said: “GDF has a vital role to play as cryptocurrencies become more mainstream, acting as a catalyst for dialogue between industry players, policymakers, and end-users. Greater public-private collaboration is the only way to realise the wide-scale adoption of digital assets and we will be championing an advance in industry-wide operational standards and governance so that all people – not just the technically savvy – can benefit from the wave of transformative digital financial services that we’re seeing .”

Our partnership with GDF extends across the group’s efforts to promote collaboration amongst market players and support engagement between industry and regulatory bodies. Through 100x Chief Compliance Officer Malcolm Wright, who chairs GDF’s Advisory Council and is co-chair of the GDF Anti-Money Laundering Working Group, we’ll share our perspective on compliance and regulatory matters at events like the Virtual Asset Service Providers Summit (V20). The experts across our business – in the trading engine, product development, legal, and other spheres – will also contribute to GDF’s knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Global Digital Finance Executive Co-Chairman Lawrence Wintermeyer said: “History will show 2021 as a defining moment in digital finance as the industry continues to mature rapidly and integrate with our everyday lives. We’re excited to work with 100x, which through its BitMEX platform has been one of the leading innovators in this space, to lay the groundwork for the wider adoption of digital finance.”
